Biography
Inês Raposo (b. 1995) is a visual artist who lives and works in Lisbon. She holds a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2014–2018). Alongside her artistic practice, she has been dedicated to teaching visual arts and, more recently, has joined the Education Department of Galeria Zé dos Bois, in Lisbon.
Inês Raposo’s artistic practice is based on painting, although she occasionally exhibits drawings and works with installations. Her compositions deal with biographical themes, whether based on memories or photographs, as well as contemporary political, gender or social issues, which sometimes overlap with re-interpretations of certain themes from art history. These fantastic subversions with a sense of emancipation, empowerment, cynicism and fluid anachronism give her practice a diverse character, incorporating different technical styles. Raposo’s works bring together a personal and current vision, through a visual language very close to everyday life – often focusing on modes of depiction – portraits, landscapes and minute details of small objects.
